There is no denying in the fact that Femi Adebayo and Muyiwa Ademola are 2 of the top flight actors of all times, not only in Ibadan but in the entire Yoruba movie industry together with Abeokuta, Ogun State-based actor, Odunlade Adekola.
However, what many don’t know is the fact that in less than 10 years, the 2 dynamic actors have changed the face of movie scene in their Ibadan based through their fantastic movie productions and other related involvement.
Though, they rarely act together but their superlative movies and other related jobs also made them the peak of over others in the industry. Before fame, Ibadan movie industry was only dominated with different local caucuses owned by several veteran actors, but immediately after the arrival of the talented and industrious actors, they modernized it by turning movie caucuses to school of performing arts which are still very much active till date.
Muyiwa took the lead with his Authentic School of Performing Arts followed by Femi Adebayo’s J-15 Drama School which is now the ultimate schools for aspiring actors and actresses. Today in Ibadan, if one considered himself to be an actor; he or she will be advised to either join J-15 or Authentic school of performing arts.
Away from that, the vibrant actors have branded their names in the city to the extent that they are the top choice of the state’s government when there is a programme related to movie, especially Muyiwa Ademola.
Example of this was the 4 days Samodun Festival Organised by the state government in January 2013, the first day of the programme was artistes’ day tagged “Celebrity Walk” with governor Ajimobi where Muyiwa brought in over 200 Yoruba Movie stars.
They have both won several recognition awards and endorsements in the state. They are very talented and exceptionally creative.
Ademola joined the industry years ago after featuring in several amateur movies, but through Charles Olumo (a.k.a. Agbako) who lived close to his house in Abeokuta, he eventually got in touch with one Mr S.I. Ola, a movie director. The man taught him the rudiments of acting and movie productions. He later returned to Ibadan and registered with the ANTP and he started attending its meetings.
In 1995 precisely, luck came his way when he met one Dibel, a generating sets dealer who volunteered to sponsor his first movie, Asise (Blunder). He was born into the family of Prince Isaiah Ademola and education for him started from Christ Church School, Mapo V, Elekuro, Ibadan for his elementary education before proceeding to St. David’s High School, Molete, Ibadan. After his secondary education in 1991, he worked with an Insurance company.
Femi Adebayo on the other hand, was born on 31th December, 1972. A native of Ilorin, Kwara State, he was born in Lagos. He attended Tender Age Nursery and Primary School, Lagos, and Oke-Ode Grammar School, the 2 of them in Ebutte Meta, Lagos State, where he was the Senior Prefect for the 92/93 set. While in the university, he undertook part time training in entertainment with the then popular Awada Keri-Keri School of Performing Arts under the leadership of his father, Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello).
He proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, for a BL before going back to bag a Master’s degree in Law at the University of Ibadan.
