Going by the information at yorubamoviegist.com’s disposal, it seem that renowned Yoruba Movie Marketer, Segun Afolabi who is the CEO, Alawaye Venture has finally dumped movie marketing to secure a future in politics.
For sometimes now, information has it that he hasn’t been in good term with the association and not much has been heard from his stable. For gross misconduct, the Executive Council of the Yoruba Video Film Producers/Marketers Association of Nigeria (YOVIFPMAN) announced the suspension of Mr. Segun Afolabi of Alawaye Ventures from the association with immediate effect.
This suspension lasted for 12 months, effective from 24 August 2009. A statement made available to the media then and signed by the association’s General Secretary, Alhaji. Taiwo Abdullahi, stated that the Alawaye Ventures boss was found guilty of the following offences:
Assault attempt on the chairman, Alhaji Ishola Saheed Ayedun; harassment of the immediate past chairman and disregard for the association’s disciplinary committee.
Ayedun then assured that the association would do everything within its powers to instill discipline in the members, while upgrading the quality of film production in Nigeria. However, the issues was later resorted before another one sprang up a few years ago when the association decided to leave Idumota for Arena Oshodi, Lagos, Alawaye and Afeezco refused to move with them and since then, he hardly release movies.
Afeezco Films has joined his colleagues at the Arena Market, Oshodi but Alawaye hasn’t returned. What we learnt is that he his now busy pursuing his political career has he is battling former Chairman of Araromi Ifelodun LCDA Lagos, Afifat for the Local Government Chairmanship seat. He is contesting under the platform of (APC).
